Negotiating the Best Deal

Rare is the real estate transaction that is completed without some give and take between the buyer and seller. You probably won’t want to accept the seller’s initial asking price. And the seller might not accept your counter offer. Negotiations are an integral part at arriving at the best deal.
Price isn’t the only point for negotiations in a real estate transaction. The bargaining might also cover contingencies, such as:
- financing,
- sale of another property,
- appliances that are to remain in the home and
- the timing of when you would take possession of the house.
Everything is negotiable.
Most of us are unaccustomed to negotiations and may feel uncomfortable in the give-and-take. But real estate agents and real estate attorneys engage in negotiations nearly everyday and can help you obtain the best deal in the process.
